What to expect

Visitors will get a behind-the-scenes look at life at Jack Bruce Racing and the chance to meet some of our horses up close.

You’ll be able to wander through the barn, meet and pat the horses, feed them some hay and learn a little more about each horse’s personality, racing career and daily routine. It’s a great opportunity to see thoroughbreds away from the racetrack and discover what makes each of them unique.

Trainer Jack Bruce and our team will be on hand to chat and answer questions about how a racing stable operates, including how we train, feed and care for our horses, what goes into preparing a horse for race day, and what a typical day looks like behind the scenes.

Whether you’re already a racing fan or have never been around a thoroughbred before, it’s a relaxed opportunity to come into the stable, meet the horses and the people who care for them, and experience racing from a completely different perspective.

About Us

A typical day at Jack Bruce Racing starts well before sunrise, with our team arriving early to feed, check over and prepare the horses for their morning work.

Throughout the morning, horses head out for trackwork, with their training tailored to their individual stage of preparation. Depending on the day, this might include walking, trotting, cantering, galloping or jumping out. Once they return to the stable, they are cooled down, washed, fed and carefully checked over by our team.

There is plenty happening behind the scenes too. Our horses receive regular attention from farriers, veterinarians and other equine professionals, while our staff manage everything from feeding and grooming to treatments, recovery, race preparation and the general day-to-day care of each horse.

After the morning rush, the stable settles into a quieter part of the day where the horses can rest and recover before the afternoon routine begins. They are walked, fed again, checked over and prepared for the evening.

While racing is what everyone sees on race day, a regular day at the stable is really all about the horses – getting to know each individual, keeping them happy and healthy, and giving them the care and preparation they need to perform at their best.
