Godolphin is the global thoroughbred breeding operation and horseracing team founded by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Today Team Godolphin spans four continents, from our home in Dubai to Europe, Australia, Japan and America.
Northwood is set amongst the farm’s network of billabongs and majestic native gums. The stud office is located in the Homestead grounds, surrounded by the last remaining original historic buildings. The farm comprises four distinct areas in stallions, broodmares, racehorses and farm operations.
Northwood Park is unique in that the property is not only home to stallions, mares and their foals, but also growing yearlings and resting racehorses which provides an opportunity to witness and experience the cycle full circle – from covering, to foaling, weaning, rearing, returning to rest as racehorses and then one day returning as a stallion or broodmare, companion horse or become part of the Godolphin Lifetime Care program of gifting or Flagbearer.
Throughout the year the team's focus shifts with each stage: for example, the mares production cycle, each as important as the next, from conception, pregnancy, foaling and lactation. Foaling itself is left to Mother Nature much of the time, however the team play a critical role in neo natal care and mare management. Pasture management includes renovation works, spraying, sowing and irrigation. The farm hosts a fully fitted out workshop and fabrication area allowing the majority of the maintenance to be carried out on farm, from servicing vehicles to constructing gates. The farm operations and pasture management is complemented by the successful commercial Angus and Speckle Park breeding herd.
As part of celebrating the Thoroughbred week, Ronald McDonald House families and volunteers will be visiting Northwood Stud for a day of respite: up close with our horses to feel and breath in the Thoroughbred, learn about the Thoroughbred lifecycle, the passion and care we have for our horses, and enjoy the peaceful gardens and surrounds.
