The horses will be in the stables and paddocks, relaxing after a morning of trackwork. Champagne Stables is a boutique training establishment with 20 - 33 horses in training at any time.
From nose-to-tail Anna Furlong will introduce guests to the features of a Thoroughbred horse, bred to race, and trained as an equine athlete.
Champagne Racing have stables at Riccarton Park Racecourse, built in conjunction with Canterbury Jockey Club. From this location, the horses have access to grass, sand, plough and synthetic training tracks.
The complex comprises 33 large covered boxes (some with open yards attached), grass paddocks, and covered tie-ups. We have both a treadmill and a state-of-the-art exercising walker, making a high-quality, adaptable environment for the horses in training.
The entrance to the stables is up a driveway off Yaldhurst Road, near Manakura Street.
