We are offering a fully guided hospital tour where guests will have the opportunity of potentially seeing a surgery, patients in barns and ICU, and gain a general understanding as to what happens in an equine hospital on a daily basis.

Avenel Equine Hospital is a full service equine hospital located in the heart of Victoria’s Thoroughbred breeding region, providing comprehensive services to equine clients in the local area (Avenel, Nagambie, Seymour and Euroa) and referrals from as far away as Queensland. Our services range from routine vaccinations and health checks for ponies to 24-hour-a-day intensive care for newborn foals, lameness evaluation for sport horses to assisted reproduction. We provide full equine surgery and intensive care service, staffed by Specialists in Equine Medicine and Surgery.
Our team is dedicated to caring for all horses, from elite athletes to loved companions, Olympians to pleasure horses, kids’ ponies to working horses and newborns to retirees. We continue to increase staffing levels to ensure we provide the best client services. We employ 18 equine veterinarians.
We have undertaken extensive improvements to our facilities, which includes the addition of a purpose-built laboratory, stabling for 21 horses, and a new state-of-art surgical facility which was completed in early 2023. The new surgical facility enables us to now offer a dedicated 24/7 surgical service.
Our involvement with Scone Equine Group gives us enormous support and allows our veterinarians to call on specialist expertise and use resources from the largest equine veterinary group in the southern hemisphere. Our reputation for dedicated expert care is based on understanding our clients and what their horses mean to them. It starts with a personal relationship between our team and our clients and is built on our commitment to research and continuing education for the care of their horse.

Cafes in nearby Avenel, approximately 5 minutes away from the hospital or else Nagambie whcih is on the lake and very picturesque. Approximatley 15 minute drive from the hospital.
